We Are The Champions Now on Netflix!

We Are the Champions is a new mini series out on Netflix, and it’s been setting the yo-yo world a-buzz. The series is humorously narrated by Rainn Wilson (!) and focuses on six lesser known competitions around the world; cheese rolling, chili eating, fantasy hairstyling, dog dancing, frog jumping, and of course, competitive yo-yoing! The Yo-yo episode focuses on the 2019 World Yo-yo competition in Cleveland, Ohio, and focuses on yo-yo champs: Evan Nagao, Betty Gallegos, and Keiran Cooper, and highlights their individual backgrounds and hopes for competing to become the world’s yo-yo champ. It also features appearances by World Yoyo Championship Organizer and CLYW Head Honcho Steve Brown, and a very hilarious appearance of current world yo-yo champ and all around nice guy Gentry Stein (spoiler alert Gentry wins!) And just about everybody in the yo-yo scene has a cameo.
I’ve gotten a number of orders from people saying they’ve watched the show and decided to pick up a yo-yo, and it’s wonderful to see yo-yo featured in such a high-profile setting. Check it out if you haven’t already!
